Biography

Hi. My name is Remco.

I am originally a Dutch portrait-artist, accidentally falling in love with abstract painting and pop-art. Growing up drawing and always playing Nintendo consoles, my love for art and retro gaming is now coming together in the series I’m painting.

For me games are more than just pastime. They are an obsession, a theme interwoven into my artworks. The acrylic pieces are a tribute to the digital stories and characters that have resonated with me.

My approach to art is spontaneous and intuitive. Without sketches, I dive directly onto a canvas. Only once the atmosphere feels just right do I work on the linework, rendering the imagined character in detail. Just like I did as a kid, bringing me back to my basics. My works, described as “messy, but precise,” display a stark contrast between chaotic colour and fine linework.

My paintings are a celebration of my inner child, and inner ‘nerd’. They offer an artistic view on beloved game characters and the memories they harbour. Through my work, I hope viewers and collectors can experience the same delight I feel, combining contemporary art and cherished gaming lore.
